The 1865 earrings were created in honor of Juneteenth which is now a federal holiday. Juneteenth is celebrated because it recognizes the day black people were freed in the United States of America. June 19, 1865, has always been celebrated by black people and now that it’s a federal holiday, even more people will be able to help us celebrate the day we were freed.
